Good Newwz Box Office: Starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh in lead, the Raj Mehta directorial opened up on a good note at the ticket windows. The movie has been witnessing some tough time due to Salman Khan’s Dabangg 3 as well as the ongoing CAA protests, but has managed to beautifully sustain amidst all the hurdles.
The movie added a total collection of 17.56 crores on its Day 1, which turned out to be lesser than expected. However, Saturday was anticipated to be a big day for the Akshay Kumar starrer, and looks like that is exactly what happened. Good Newwz witnessed an appreciable jump, and as per the early trends, has raked in collections in the range of 21.50-22.50 crores.
That brings the 2-day total of Good Newwz to 39.06-40.06 crores, which is another reason to celebrate for the cast. Considering the hiked ticket prices at major centres along with the fabulous advance bookings, today will majorly determine the fate of the movie, which is expected to surpass all previous records of Akshay Kumar. Only time will tell whether that happens or not, but so far everything’s been working well.
Meanwhile, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed against Good Newwz in Karnataka High Court seeking stay on its release, over the subject matter.

In the film, it has been shown that two couples, both having the surname ‘Batra’ opt for IVF assistance to have a child at a private clinic. However, the clinic accidentally interchanges the sperms, which leads to confusion.
A Mysuru-based NGO has raised objection over the film’s subject, as reported by The News Minute. Mir Sameem Raza, president of an NGO called Yes Trust has filed the PIL. The petition alleges that the film’s subject is misguiding because it might lead the audiences to believe that In-Vitro fertilisation (IVF) centres often make such mistakes, which in turn can negatively impact their business.
