‘Another strike on Pakistan’: Amit Shah, leaders wish team India for victory over Pak

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday congratulated India for its stellar victory against Pakistan in the ICC World Cup and compared the win with the surgical strike conducted against the rival country by the Army in 2016.

“Another strike on Pakistan by team India and the result is the same. Congratulations to the entire team for this superb performance. Every Indian is feeling proud and celebrating this impressive win,” Shah said in a tweet.

Captain Virat Kohli-led team beat its arch-rival Pakistan with 89 runs in an ICC World Cup match at the Old Trafford in Manchester, England, on Sunday.

Leaders cutting across party lines wished team India for its performance in what was seen as a prestige battle.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, “Congratulations to Indian cricket team for winning the match against Pakistan in the CWC 2019. The Indian team played an amazing game of cricket for this victory. We are all proud of Team India.”

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Sports Kiren Rijiju tweeted: “I had already said that India would emerge victoriously, Pakistan would lose. Well done boys. Congratulations!”

Extending his wishes, Railways Minister Piyush Goyal said, “Congratulations to Team India for another stunning victory against Pakistan in the CWC 2019. I wish our men in blue all the luck in their march towards the coveted World Cup.”

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti tweeted, “Congrats to Indian Cricket Team for a terrific performance and making the country proud. Pakistan lost but they surely made Twitter more entertaining with their self-deprecating humour.”

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari wrote, “Well played team India. Congratulations for a spectacular win. Jai Hind!”

Congress party also congratulated the men in the blue jersey. “Congratulations team India for incomparable victory against Pakistan. You continuously made the country feel proud. Thank you!” a tweet from the party’s official handle read.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his deputy Sachin Pilot also extended their wishes to team India. “Congratulations team India for this magnificent victory over Pakistan. You have given all Indians a moment of pride!” Gehlot tweeted.

Deputy CM Pilot wrote: “Hearties congratulations to team India for keeping their invincible order against Pakistan and wishes for the matches ahead. We hope that you will bring honour to the country by winning the World Cup. We are proud of Team India,” he tweeted in Hindi.

17th Lok Sabha’s first session begins today; Union Budget, triple talaq bill on table

New Delhi: The first session of 17th Lok Sabha will commence today, which will see the passing of the Union Budget and some key legislations like Triple Talaq bill being on top of the government agenda.

The government had promulgated as many as 10 ordinances for the session which ends on July 26 and will have 30 sittings. Among the bills that will be introduced, the one on triple talaq could prove to be contentious.

The first two days of the session will be completely devoted to oath-taking by 542 members of the lower House of the Parliament.

One seat in the House is vacant as the election for Vellore constituency in Tamil Nadu was cancelled on charges of money use. Two more MPs will be nominated by the government from the Anglo Indian community, making the full house of 545.

The oath-taking by the new members will be overseen by the protem Speaker Virendra Kumar. President Ram Nath Kovind will administer him the oath of the office today morning at the Rashtrapati Bhavan before the Parliament Session begins. He will be assisted by a panel of senior members including Kodikunnil Suresh and Bhatruhari Mahtab in overseeing the proceedings when members take oath on Monday and Tuesday.

The election of Speaker of the Lok Sabha will be held on Wednesday followed by a joint sitting of both the Houses of Parliament on Thursday when President Kovind will deliver his customary address.

Interest is now centred on who will be the new Speaker in the place of Sumitra Mahajan who did not contest the recent elections.

It remains to be seen whether the new Speaker will be a woman and if so whether it could be former minister Maneka Gandhi, also a senior MP. Before Mahajan, during the second term of the UPA, the post was held by Meira Kumar who became the first woman Speaker of the Lok Sabha.

Maneka Gandhi

The Union Budget will be presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on July 5, preceded by a pre-Budget Economic survey on July 4. It will be the full Budget of the year because the one presented before the elections was a vote on account.

Ahead of the session, the BJP parliamentary party was reconstituted with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the leader of the House in the Lok Sabha and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh being his deputy. Justice Minister Thawarchand Gehlot has been named the Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha with Railway Minister Piyush Goyal being his deputy.

Arun Jaitley, who was the Leader of the House, during the first Modi government, will be missed as he opted out of the government on health grounds.

Main opposition party Congress has yet to decide its leader of the party in both Houses of the Parliament. Sonia Gandhi, however, has been elected as leader of the Congress parliamentary party.

This session of the Parliament will have no former prime ministers as Manmohan Singh’s Rajya Sabha term ended Friday while H D Deve Gowda could not make it to the Lok Sabha.

Some prominent faces will be missed in the session. Senior BJP leaders like L K Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Sushma Swaraj and Uma Bharati, as they did not contest the elections. Similarly, Mallikarjun Kharge, who was the Leader of the Congress in the 16th Lok Sabha, and his deputy Jyotiraditya Scindia, will not be seen in the House as they failed to win the polls.

Some new faces including heavyweights Home Minister Amit Shah, Child and Women Welfare Minister Smriti Irani, Malegaon blast accused Pragya Singh Thakur, cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir (BJP), actors Ravi Kishan, Sunny Deol, singer Hans Raj Hans will appear on the treasury benches of the Lok Sabha.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a customary all-party meet where he said that the Parliament session should begin with “fresh zeal and new thinking”.

Addressing the media after the all-party meeting, parliamentary affairs minister Prahlad Joshi said that Modi has urged leaders of all parties to “introspect whether members of Parliament are able to fulfil people’s aspirations as their representatives and the manner in which last two years of the 16th Lok Sabha were wasted”. (ANI)

PM Modi reaches India after attending SCO meet in Bishkek

New Delhi: After concluding his two-day visit to attend Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Bishkek, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday reached India.

During his visit, he held successful bilaterals with China, Russia, Afghanistan, and Kyrgyzstan, apart from addressing the SCO Summit in Bishkek.

Despite Pakistan’s request, Modi did not hold any formal meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan.

However, Modi exchanged “usual pleasantries” with his Pakistani counterpart Imran Khan in the Leaders’ Lounge at the SCO Summit.

Beside this, the Prime Minister also held a pull-aside meeting with President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus on the sidelines of the SCO Summit on Friday, according to Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar.

He coined the acronym HEALTH during his address at the Summit, which is a template for strengthening cooperation amongst SCO member-states.

Expanding on the acronym, he said that the ‘H’ in HEALTH stands for Healthcare Cooperation, ‘E’ for Economic Cooperation, ‘A’ for Alternate Energy, ‘L’ for Literature and Culture, ‘T’ for Terrorism free society and ‘H’ for Humanitarian Cooperation.

Even though India did not hold any official talks with Pakistan — who is also an SCO member — in Bishkek, Modi also jointly inaugurated the India-Kyrgyz Business Forum with Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov earlier today, following which the new strategic partners held a bilateral. He was also accorded a ceremonial welcome by Jeenbekov at the Ala Archa Presidential Palace in the Kyrgyz capital, which formally started off the Prime Minister’s bilateral visit to the Central Asian country.

15 documents were exchanged in various sectors in Modi and Kyrgyz President Jeenbekov’s presence at a joint presser which followed the India-Kyrgyz bilateral. India also proposed a 200 million dollar line of credit to Kyrgyzstan during wide-ranging talks with the country on Friday.

Even though Pakistan again showed its eagerness in holding talks to resolve all issues, India maintained its stance that Islamabad needed to create a terror-free atmosphere first — a position which was conveyed to Chinese President Xi Jinping by the Prime Minister during their bilateral on Thursday.

Tensions between India and Pakistan spiralled following the deadly February 14 Pulwama terror attack. New Delhi has remained rooted to its stand, saying that terror and talks with Islamabad cannot go together. China is an all-weather ally of Pakistan.

The next SCO Summit will be hosted by Russia, the MEA confirmed in a special briefing here on Friday. India became a full member of the organisation in 2017 in Astana, along with Pakistan. (ANI)

Imran met with Nawab Raza Sahab when he was in Bhopal doing location recce for his film ‘Mai Bhi’ and have been bonding with him ever since.

“Nawab Sahab treated us with utmost grace and hospitality which reflects the ettiquets passed onto him by their ancestors. When we were shooting in Bhopal it being a new city to the entire team we expected to face a lot of issues. Nawab sahab told me that we shouldn’t worry about anything and if there comes a time of crisis or need he’s just a phone call away. That meant a lot for us and helped me and the whole team calm ourselves.’ Narrated Imran Khan on their visit to Bhopal

Imran Khan has been a prominent face in Tv and film industry for almost 20years now and is currently seen on Star Plus’s hit shot ‘Divya Drishti’. He is coming up with a movie called ‘Mai Bhi’ under his production which deals with the issue of mental and physical abuse faced by juvenile boys.

“He came to Mumbai and ringed me. I offered to take him out to show around the city. Then we went for lunch where we had a nice meal but Nawab Sahab didn’t even let me touch my wallet. He being a Nawab stopped me from paying the check  and took it as matter of pride. His generosity is truly commendable and it is hard to refuse anything to him. Then I just dropped him to the airport where he again offered me to visit Bhopal and witness the royal mehmaan-nawazi.” Spoke the ‘Mai Bhi’ maker

Vaishnavi Macdonald takes the walk for a greener world

Talking about saving plants and trees and actually taking a step to ensure they don’t get destroyed is something which gradually adds up to our environment. One such doer is Vaishnavi Macdonald who is currently seen on Star Plus’s ‘Divya Drishti’ and Sony Tv’s ‘Yeh Un Dino Ki Baat Hai’ when she took the Walk for Mangroves on this World Environment Day.

Vaishnavi Macdonald is a prominent face in the Films and Tv industry for over 25 years now and has always shown her support to causes that helped save our environment. On this 5th of June, she took part in the Walk for Mangroves initiatives by Mohit Bharatiya, President BYJM Mumbai.

“This is a really necessary movement initiated for the preserving and stopping of the mangrove trees that are being cut down. Someone had to come forward to urge the concerned authorities to take some actions against it. I’m thankful to Mr Mohit Bharatiya for initiating such a great cause and inviting us to be a part of something better. This is just the beginning of a good cause but that doesn’t mean it would stop till that.” spoke Vaishnavi on the need to save the trees

“We, being known to some sections of the society hold this responsibility to help the causes that need the attention of the authorities and Us not doing something for it is similar to us causing this harm to these mangroves. ”Eid is the time of bringing friends and family together”: Imran Khan

In a world where everyone is running in order to strive for greatness, people often forget their loved ones and festivals are surely the way to bring them back together. Similar happened on this Eid which brought back together Imran Khan and few of his close friends.

Tv and films actor Imran Khan celebrated this eid with his loved ones and close friends and names of film and Tv industry namely Mohsin Khan, Khalid Siddique and Sajjad Khan who visited Imran for a party at Imran’s house. The 4 have been friends for long and reminisced about those days at the party.

“Eid is the time of bringing friends and family together and having all of them around at this time of the year is a celebration in itself. Me, Mohsin, Khalid, and Sajjad are very close friends and feel lucky to be celebrating Eid together. We usually meet each other regularly on sets but someone or the other is always missing. Eid has finally brought us all together and I’m sure the rejoicing has increased way more now for the festival amongst all of us. This year we decided to meet up at my place and have a bash in our traditional clothes because we rarely see each other like that. Hopefully next year we’d catch up at Khalid’s place in a similar way.” quoted Imran Khan on his festival plans

Imran has been a part of a lot of Bollywood movies some namely ‘The Legend of Bhagat Singh’, ‘Big Brother’, ‘Dil Toh Bacha Hai Ji’, ‘Heroine’ and  ‘Humse Hai Liife’, ‘Tara’, ‘Hero Uncle’, ‘Naagin’, ‘Beintehaa’, ‘Beyhadh’ being some of the TV shows he’s been a part of. He’s currently seen on Star Plus’s ‘Divya Drishti’.

“Along with Eid we were lucky to witness India and South Africa going against each other in the World Cup. Me being from Lucknow made them feast on Lucknowi delicacies and India winning was a bonus on Eid. Everyone went crazy on the win and we talked about how we used to watch such great games together. We still talk and cherish those memories because that’s what friends do. They help you create memories that would last forever and then later you get together to relive those memories and keep them alive. All of us being from the same professional field help us to maybe discuss the current on goings and our crafts with each other and maybe brew up some guy bonds. Eid has surely become memorable with having all of them around along with my family.” exulted the ‘Divya Drishti’ actor

Festivals are meant to bring happiness and prosperity for all and bringing loved ones and close ones together definitely make the auspicious occasion more special.

The Voice India contestant Piyush Ambhore is back with a Rock Balad, Tujhe Jaana Hain Toh Jaa

Talented singer, Piyush Ambhore who had made his presence felt in the singing reality show The Voice India has dished out a single- A rock Ballad titled ‘’. Alongside the vocals, the song has been composed by Piyush as well. Piyush’s high pitched melodious voice has taken the song to a new level.

The song comes with a video featuring Piyush and Shrushti Tare as a couple. This romantic number talks of longing and the pangs of youthful love. It is hauntingly dark and lingers much after the music fades. The video is directed by Preet Singh Bhullar and depicts a poignant story as the song unfolds.

Talking about , Piyush stated, “I waited for the right song and call it my weakness, I ‘m a perfectionist. So till I get it spot on I will not put out stuff just for visibility. Also just to add, this song is hinged on Rock and as a genre it is somewhat lost. By mid 90s pop had taken over and rock took a back seat. Only recently do we see a genre revival and I would like to play a role in its revival. Who knows we can see Woodstock in India in the near future, atleast the society is prepared for one”.

Once picks up the team intends to re-group on a series of videos and songs. Talking about working with Suraj Palwade, the producer and Preet, Piyush said, “It was great collaborating with the ream. It’s difficult to get people who you can see a long term association with, Both Suraj and Preet are the other spokes of the wheel and is as much theirs as its mine”.
The song produced by Suraj Palwade and 48 Frames Production, reflects great production values and it is released by Zee Music.

Over half of HIV patients in Pak’s Sindh province remain without treatment: WHO

Karachi: Over half of 751 people diagnosed with HIV in Pakistan’s Sindh province still await medical assistance, according to a report by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

As per the WHO report, out of the 751 people, 604 are children who are infected with HIV, as the country continues to grapple with the HIV outbreak.

An international team of experts from WHO had arrived in Pakistan in May-end to probe the outbreak in Ratodero town in Larkana district. The team is also supporting the local authorities who are dealing with the outbreak, Express Tribune reported.

According to the WHO report, 324 people or 47 per cent have been provided medical assistance so far, while 427 others or 53 per cent remain without treatment.

The provision of essential medicines is a huge challenge for Pakistani authorities as they have stocks to treat 240 of the 604 affected children. The medicine stocks that are being used to treat the 240 children in different hospitals will last until July 15.

The WHO-led team is in Pakistan on a request by the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination. It includes experts in emergency response management, epidemiology, HIV clinical care, and infection prevention and control from the global health body, as well as the Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network (GOARN).

In Sindh province, the HIV outbreak was first reported on April 25 and a major screening programme was initiated on April 28.

On May 8, the HIV programme was expanded and WHO had said that “majority (of cases) are among children and young people: more than half those affected are children under the age of 5.”

The WHO team’s main assignments “include ascertaining the source of the outbreak and controlling it; providing technical expertise, particularly in the areas of HIV testing, paediatric HIV treatment and family counselling, and ensuring adequate supplies of rapid diagnostic tests and antiretroviral medicines for both adults and children, as well as single-use needles and syringes.” (ANI)

Rahul Gandhi won in Wayanad due to 40% Muslim population: Asaduddin Owaisi

Hyderabad: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi has claimed that Congress President Rahul Gandhi won in Wayanad due to 40 per cent population being Muslims.

The Hyderabad MP said that he is still hopeful of getting Muslim’s place in the country as the community does not want to survive on anyone’s alms.

“On 15 August 1947, our elders thought that this will be a new India. That India will be of Azad, Gandhi, Nehru, Ambedkar and of crores of their followers. I am still hopeful of getting our place in the country. We don’t want alms, we don’t want to survive on your alms,” Owaisi said while addressing a public gathering here on Sunday.

“You don’t want to leave Congress and other secular parties. But remember they don’t have strength, thinking, they don’t work hard…Where did BJP lose? In Punjab. Who’s there? Sikhs. Why did BJP lose anywhere else in India? Due to regional parties there and not Congress. The Congress leader himself lost in Amethi and received victory in Wayanad. Isn’t the 40 per cent population of Wayanad Muslim?” he added.

Gandhi, who netted 7,05,034 votes in Wayanad, won by 4,31,063 votes against his nearest rival PP Suneer of Left Democratic Front (LDF) in the constituency.

Union Minister Smriti Irani wrested Gandhi’s family bastion of Amethi in Uttar Pradesh. In Kerala, Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) bagged 19 out of the 20 seats. (ANI)
