Monsoon Session LIVE: India only nation to have soft approach on refugees, says Rijiju

New Delhi: Members of Trinamool Congress (TMC) today protested outside the Parliament, seeking withdrawal of draft NRC that was released in Assam. Samajwadi Party and Aam Aadmi Party members too supported the TMC’s protest.

MoS for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju slammed the TMC for trying to create unrest over the issue of NRC in Assam. Defending the government, Rijiju said that India is the only country in the world to approach a soft stand on refugees.

Monsoon session: Rajya Sabha adjourned for the day after disruptions over NRC# The Upper House was adjourned following a ruckus over the NRC draft which was released on Monday. It has been adjourned till 12 pm.

Earlier in the morning, Opposition parties led by the Congress raised the issue of non-inclusion of 40 lakh names in the final draft list of the NRC in Assam which was published yesterday.

Scores of parties including Trinamool Congress and Samajwadi Party staged a protest near the Gandhi statue demanding 40 lakh people be included in the final draft.
