President Kovind, PM Modi extend greetings to nation on Eid al-Adha

New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday greeted the nation on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, the President urged everyone to share the happiness with the needy and follow social distancing norms and guidelines to contain COVID-19 spread.

“Eid Mubarak! Idu’l Zuha symbolises the spirit of sacrifice and amity which inspires us to work for the well-being of one and all. On this occasion, let us share our happiness with the needy and follow social distancing norms and guidelines to contain COVID-19 spread,” President Kovind tweeted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took to social media to extend warm greetings to the people of the country on the occasion.

Earlier in the morning, devotees offered namaz at Delhi’s Jama Masjid on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha. A large number of devotees flocked Jama Masjid on the occasion.

The temperature of devotees was also being checked with a thermometer gun, as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Don’t use Sushant Singh Rajput’s case to create friction between Maharashtra, Bihar: Uddhav Thackeray

New Delhi: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has said that Sushant Singh Rajput case should not be politicised or used to create friction between Maharashtra and Bihar.

Amid the ongoing criticism faced by the Mumbai Police following an investigation into Rajput’s death case, the Chief Minister stressed that Mumbai Police is not “inefficient” while appealing those who have any evidence in regard to the case to step forward.

“Mumbai Police is not inefficient. If anyone has any evidence they can bring it to us and we will interrogate and punish the guilty. Please do not use this case (Sushant Singh Rajput death case) as an excuse to create friction between Maharashtra and Bihar,” Thackeray said on Friday.

“Bringing politics in the case is the most deplorable thing to do,” he added.

Maharashtra government has filed a caveat before the Supreme Court in the Rajput’s death case.

Earlier, Bihar government and Rajput’s family have filed caveats in the top court seeking to challenge actor Rhea Chakraborty’s petition that sought transfer of the FIR registered in Patna to Mumbai in the actor’s death case.

“After Bihar government and Rajput’s family filed a caveat in the Supreme Court, Maharashtra government has filed a caveat before the SC today to ensure that no order is passed in Rhea Chakraborty’s petition case without hearing its (Maharashtra) side,” said Sachin Patil, standing counsel for Maharashtra Government.

A caveat is a legal process, in which the party which had filed it before the concerned court, shall have to be heard definitely before the concerned court passes any order in future.

Bihar Police has sought the assistance of Mumbai police to probe the Sushant Singh Rajput case, Mumbai police Crime Branch officials told ANI. However, the Police are still considering their request.

Bihar Police team reached after an FIR was filed by late actor’s father KK Singh against Chakraborty in Bihar under several sections including abetment of suicide.

Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai residence on June 14. (ANI)

New Delhi: Devotees on Saturday morning offered namaz at Delhi’s Jama Masjid on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha. The temperature of devotees was also being checked with thermometer gun, as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of coronavirus.

A large number of devotees flocked Jama Masjid on the occasion. “We have ensured strong arrangements here. In fact, we have ensured a safe environment in several big and small mosques on this occasion. namaz will be offered at 6:05 am,” said Sanjay Bhatia, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).

US may be banning TikTok, says President Trump

New Delhi: US President Donald Trump on Friday (local time) said that his administration may ban the Chinese video-sharing application TikTok.

“We are looking at TikTok, we may be banning TikTok. We may be doing some other things, we have a couple of options… But we are looking at a lot of alternatives with respect to TikTok,” the US President said.

This comes after President Donald Trump told reporters on Wednesday that the US government is thinking about imposing a ban on TikTok. “We are looking at TikTok,” Trump said when asked about possibly banning the Chinese application. “We are thinking about making a decision.”

Earlier in July, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the Trump administration was considering a ban on access to the TikTok application over privacy concerns. The US politicians have repeatedly criticised TikTok, owned by Beijing-based startup ByteDance, of being a threat to national security because of its ties to China.

Earlier this month, expressing concern over TikTok’s censorship of user content to advance the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) foreign policy aims, a set of 25 US Congressmen and Congresswomen urged President Donald Trump to “take decisive action to protect the American people’s privacy and safety”.

India had recently banned 59 Chinese mobile applications including the widely-used social media platforms such as TikTok, WeChat, and Helo with a view of the threat to the nation’s sovereignty and security.

The majority of the apps banned in the June 29 order were red-flagged by intelligence agencies over concerns that they were collecting user data and possibly also sending them “outside”. (ANI)

Washington D.C. [US]: US President Donald Trump on Thursday (local time) said he doesn’t want to delay the November election but expressed doubts about ‘mail-in voting’.

“I don’t want a delay, I want to have the election. But I also don’t want to have wait for three months and then find out that the ballots were all missing and election doesn’t mean anything,” said the US President at a press conference.

“Do I want to see a date change? No. But I don’t want to see a crooked election. This election will be the most rigged election in history if that happens,” Trump was quoted as saying by The Hill, referencing widespread mail-in voting.

“With Universal Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history. It will be a great embarrassment to the USA. Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???” Trump had earlier said in a tweet.

The US President, speaking of COVID-19 pandemic said this could have been stopped in China.

“We can never ever forget the people whom we have lost. We will never forget what happened. This could have been stopped in China, they should have stopped it and they didn’t,” he said.

The US President said the scientific path forward is to protect those at highest risk while allowing those at lower risk to carefully return to work and to school with appropriate precautions.

Trump while expressing grief over the passing away of Herman Cain, said: “Let me begin by expressing sadness at the passing of a wonderful man and a dear friend of mine, Herman Cain. He was a very special person. Unfortunately, he passed away from the thing called the ‘China virus’.” (ANI)

Today marks the 10th anniversary of Milan Luthria’s Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. It starred Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Randeep Hooda, Prachi Desai & Kangana Ranaut. The film has gained the ‘cult classic’ status over its decade-long journey. But wouldn’t you want to know some behind the scenes scenario?

Koimoi got into an exclusive conversation with Randeep Hooda on the special occasion. The actor played the role of a cop (Agnel Wilson). Randeep, Milan Luthria revealed you rejected Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai thrice. Tell us why?

I was very reluctant to play it because I had already played the part of Dawood Ibrahim in D (2005). To play a cop in a gangster heavy film, I thought it would be a step down for me. Though I did not have any work or money, I thought I would let it pass, and wait for something central to come about. Milan spoke to me again and again and again.

In fact, once I finished my part, they told me I had to shoot the entire part as an old man as earlier he was planned as a young man. So, I was like ‘What’s going on?’ That’s the reason Milan said that I refused it thrice. But I’m so glad I did it. In a gangster drama like Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai to stand out so much as a cope. And has its own cult following and dialogues being repeated overly. So I’m really glad and thankful to Milan Luthria for convincing and persuading me to be a part. I think Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai started a beautiful trend in my career. 10 years later, it’s still one of my strongest performances. That’s a good thing to know.

If no Agnel Wilson, any other role that you would have been keen on playing?

I don’t really look at other people’s role as such once I’m designated one. I was just apprehensive about this part. I didn’t really look at any other part.

How was the journey overall? Share us with some memories that you relish till date!

Rajat Arora (writer of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai) and I whenever would be discussing the dialogues – I would be laughing my head off. The real pompous and filmy nature of these filmy dialogues (reenacting ‘Teri pant and Teri shirt, dono mujhe acha laga’.) He and I would have our little jokes over Old Smuggler (the drink). Once the take started, we did it with as much conviction as one could muster up and the results were just fantastic.

Govt extends due date for filing Income Tax Returns till September 30 for FY’19

New Delhi: In view of the constraints due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to further ease compliances for taxpayers, Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) extends the due date for filing of Income Tax Returns for FY 2018-19 (AY 2019-20) from July 31 to September 30, 2020, according to the Income Tax Department.

The Ministry of Finance issued a notification in this regard on Wednesday.

“This notification shall come into force from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette,” stated Niraj Kumar, Deputy Secretary (Tax Policy and Legislation Division), in the notification.

Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh): The idol of Ram Lalla is likely to don a green coloured attire with a saffron border on August 5 when ‘bhoomi pujan” will be done for the construction of a grand temple at Ayodhya.

The shop ‘Babu Lal Tailors’ is run by two brothers — Bhagwat Prasad and Shankar Lal – and they stitch clothes for Gods and Goddesses in temples.

Prasad said his father stitched dresses for Ram Lalla for several years and he is continuing the legacy.

“Clothes of Ram Lalla are being stitched at our shop for four generations. After my father died, we are continuing his legacy. We used to go to the site and stitch clothes of Ram Lalla with my father. He died in 1992 and since then clothes of Ram Lalla are being stitched at my shop here,” Prasad told ANI.

He said the government earlier got seven sets of clothes stitched and of late devotees have also been coming to take clothes for deity.

Prasad said that the dress for Ram Lalla idol will have navratnas.

He said Kalki Ram of Ramdal Sewa Trust has placed an order for two dresses for August 5 ceremony.

“One is green coloured and the other is saffron and these will be completed in two-three days. Wednesday is the day of Lord Ganesha and green colour is associated with the deity. Green coloured dress will have a border of saffron,” he said.

Prasad said he also has orders for white-coloured attire for Monday and a red attire and Tuesday for Ram Lalla, the two days preceding the ceremony.

Pandit Kalki Ram, President, Ramdal Sewa Trust, said that Ram Lalla’s costume will have a grand look to mark the special occasion of bhoomi pujan.

“Bhoomi pujan programme is a big event. On August 5, Ram Lalla’s costume will be of green and saffron colour. The costume has navratnas for nine planets. Normally, it takes two days to design and prepare the costume but this time a grand look is being given to the costume. The tailor has said that the costume will be completed by August 1,” he told ANI.

He said they got to know through the media that the government got only seven costumes made for Ram Lalla in a year. “We made a resolution that a costume will be made for Ram Lalla on various days. There are new costumes on ekadashis, amavasya, poornima,” he said.

Kalki Ram said that his trust has been getting dresses made for Ram Lalla for two years.

Champat Rai, General Secretary, Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust said that decision on dress of Ram Lalla will be taken by chief priest Satyendra Das.

“Dress of God will be decided by the chief priest Satyendra Dasji Maharaj. As per my information, every planet has a colour. Each day has a colour. Wednesday has also a colour,” Rai said.

Rai said that coronavirus guidelines will be followed at the event and only a limited number of people will be allowed to participate.

“We will try that not more than 125-150 people attend the event. The guidelines of the government will be followed,” he said.

“I will request people not to travel to Ayodhya for the event. Everyone should celebrate the event at their own places by lighting lamps and diyas. Pray that India becomes free from coronavirus,” he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on August 5, according to Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, the president of the Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust.

The construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya will begin after the ceremony to lay the foundation stone (bhoomi poojan) in which chief ministers of many states, ministers from the union cabinet and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat are also likely to participate.

The Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust, set up in accordance with the Supreme Court verdict, held its second meeting earlier this month.

In March this year, the ‘Ram Lalla’ idol was shifted to a temporary structure.

The apex court, on November 9 last year, had directed the central government to hand over the site at Ayodhya for the construction of a Ram temple. (ANI)

Team of Bihar Police in Mumbai recorded statements of 2 persons including Sushant Singh Rajput’s sister

Patna (Bihar): A team of Bihar Police that arrived in Mumbai on Tuesday, recorded statements of two persons, including actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s sister on Wednesday in connection with Rajput’s death case.

An FIR was filed by Sushant Singh Rajput’s father against actor Rhea Chakraborty in Bihar on Tuesday.

A petition has been filed by actor Rhea Chakraborty in the Supreme Court seeking transfer of investigation in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case to Mumbai, said her lawyer Satish Maneshinde.

Maneshinde has filed the plea on Chakraborty’s behalf.

This comes a day after an FIR was filed by Rajput’s father against Chakraborty in Bihar’s Patna.

An FIR had been registered against Chakraborty at Rajiv Nagar police station in Patna under various sections, including abetment to suicide on the complaint of Rajput’s father Krishna Kishor Singh.

Amid demands for the transfer of the case to CBI, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said Mumbai Police are investigating the case and it will not be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Earlier, Chakraborty had demanded CBI probe in the case.

Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai residence on June 14.

According to the Maharashtra police, statements of 41 people, including filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, film critic Rajeev Masand, director-producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and filmmaker Aditya Chopra have been recorded in the investigation so far.

Meanwhile, Bihar Police inspector Kaisar Alam, who is probing the FIR registered by Sushant Singh Rajput’s father in the late actor’s suicide case, on Wednesday said that the Mumbai Police is extending their assistance in the investigation. (ANI)

Maha CM assured me names coming up in Sushant case will be questioned: Chirag Paswan

New Delhi: Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Chirag Paswan on Tuesday said that Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has assured him that all those names that are coming up in Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case will be questioned and demanded strict action if anyone found guilty.

“I spoke to Maharashtra CM yesterday, he assured me that all names that are coming up, whether big or small, are being questioned. Be it Aditya Chopra, Mahesh Bhatt or Karan Johar, all are being investigated,” Paswan told ANI.

“All these names are subject of investigation. It is too early to come to a conclusion but if fingers are being raised, it should be probed impartially. If found guilty, strict action should be taken,” he said.

Earlier in the day, a FIR has been registered against actor Rhea Chakraborty at a police station here under various sections including abetment of suicide on the complaint of Sushant Singh Rajput’s father Krishna Kishor Singh, the police said.

Chakraborty had earlier demanded the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into Sushant’s suicide case.

First batch of 5 Rafale aircraft to arrive in Ambala today

Ambala (Haryana) : The first batch of five Rafale aircraft, would be arriving in Ambala today to join the Indian Air Force (IAF) fleet.

Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria would be visiting Ambala today to receive the first batch of five Rafale combat aircraft arriving from France.

The Indian Rafales are expected to take off from Al Dhafra in UAE at around 11 am IST and reach Ambala by 2 pm, sources said.

The backup base for the arrival of the aircraft in case there is a weather issue in and around Ambala would be the Jodhpur airbase.

In view of Rafale fighter jets landing in the city, Section 144 has been imposed in four villages close to Ambala airbase.

Munish Sehgal, DSP Traffic, Ambala, said the administration is on a high alert and the gathering of people on roofs and photography during landing has been strictly prohibited.

The administration has prohibited pictures of Air Force Station from places such as Dhulkot, Baldev Nagar, Garnala and Panjokhara.

Ram Kumar, DSP Ambala, said that the Ambala Cantt area has been made a ‘no-drone area’ as it is a sensitive zone. Action will be taken against those violating “no-photography orders”.

“The Ambala Cantt area is a ‘no-drone area’ as it is a sensitive zone. Also, no photography is allowed in the area. If anyone violates these orders, action will be taken against them,” Kumar said.

The police officers also made announcements and informed the local residents to not gather on roofs and engage in photography between 10 am and 05 pm on Wednesday.

The Indian Air Force is further boosting the capabilities of the combat aircraft by equipping it with the HAMMER missiles from France.

The order for the HAMMER standoff missiles with the capability to take out any types of targets at the range of around 60-70 kms is being processed under the emergency powers for acquisition given to the armed forces by the Narendra Modi government.

HAMMER (Highly Agile Modular Munition Extended Range) is a medium-range air-to-ground weapon designed and manufactured for the French Air Force and Navy initially.

Armed with the long-range Meteor air to air missiles and SCALP, the Rafales would give India an edge over both Pakistan and China in terms of air strike capability.

Once the aircrafts land in Ambala, the pilots led by Group Captain Harkirat Singh would meet the Air Chief and brief him about their flying and training in France.

The formal induction ceremony of the aircraft would be held later. The Rafale aircraft would move out soon to another operational base for operational sorties.

The pilots include Group Captain Harkirat Singh who is the Commanding Officer of the 17 squadron along with Wing Commander MK Singh and R Kataria.

In a long-awaited development, five Rafale fighter aircraft took off on Monday for India from an airbase in France.

The fighter jets were flagged off by the Indian Ambassador to France from an airbase in Merignac, France where he interacted with the India crew flying it to India. The five aircraft flying to India include seven Indian pilots with the commanding officer of the 17 Golden Arrows squadron.

All the pilots have been trained on the aircraft by the French Dassault Aviation company as per the agreement signed for the biggest-ever defence deal signed by India in 2016 for acquiring 36 Rafale jets for over Rs 60,000 crore. (ANI)

Patna (Bihar): BJP MLA Neeraj Kumar Singh Bablu, cousin of Sushant Singh Rajput, on Tuesday said that a huge amount of money has been transferred into the account of actress Rhea Chakraborty from the actor’s account.

“An FIR has been filed against actress Rhea Chakraborty by the father of Sushant Singh as a huge amount of money has been transferred into her account and they both have joint accounts for some companies through which cheating has been done from her side,” Bablu said.

“This is the issue of probe and police will go there and investigate the matter after that everything will be revealed,” he added.

The statement was given in the backdrop of several top film personalities being questioned in connection with the case.

On July 28, an FIR has been registered against actor Rhea Chakraborty under various sections including abetment of suicide on the complaint of Sushant Singh Rajput’s father Krishna Kishor Singh, the police said on Tuesday.

It said that a four-member team has been sent to Mumbai following registration of FIR.

“A four-member team has been sent to Mumbai. The team will collect case diary and other important documents from Mumbai Police,” Sanjay Singh, Inspector General, Patna Central Zone said.

In the complaint made to Rajeev Nagar police station in-charge, KK Singh alleged that Rhea Chakraborty and her relatives “committed fraud” and “pressurised the actor for financial gains”.

Sushant’s father alleged that Chakraborty “got in touch with the actor with a motive to establish herself in the film industry using his contacts and she and her relatives started interfering in his affairs”. (ANI)

COVID patient in Noida hospital’s isolation ward molested by patient

Noida (Uttar Pradesh): A woman has alleged that she was molested by a doctor, who was also admitted as a patient in the isolation ward, at a hospital in Noida, according to Additional Deputy Superintendent of Police (ADSP) Ranvijay Singh.

“A woman was admitted to an isolation ward at a private hospital after testing positive for COVID-19. In the same ward, a doctor, who does not practise at the same institution, was also a patient in the isolation ward. The woman has alleged that she was molested by the doctor,” Singh told ANI on Monday.

“We have registered an FIR and will take necessary action in the matter. Both the accused and the victim were patients at the facility,” he added.

Singh said that the police will also check whether there was any lapse on the part of the hospital management. (ANI)

Morari Bapu announces Rs 5 cr donation for construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya

New Delhi: Spiritual leader Morari Bapu announced a donation of Rs 5 crores to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust, from his Vyaspeeth, for the construction of Ram Temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya.

Several organisations had proposed donating large sums of money for the construction of the temple, noteworthy among those is the Mahavir Mandir Trust, Patna, which in February had said it will donate Rs 10 crores for the construction of the temple.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of the Ram temple in Ayodhya on August 5, according to Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, the president of the temple trust.

The construction will begin after the ceremony in which Chief Ministers of several states, Ministers from the Union Cabinet and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, among others are also likely to participate.

The Ram temple will be made from stones, while iron and steel will not be used, according to the temple construction workshop’s supervisor.

Anu Bhai Sompura, the temple’s construction workshop supervisor, said on Sunday, “I am working here for 30 years. The stones are here, other stones will come from Rajasthan. Plain stones will come and the cutting will be done here. We have two machines here that cut stone.”

“No iron will be used, wood, copper and white cement will be used,” he said.

Mahant Raju Das, from Hanuman Garhi Mandir, said, “Trust has decided the temple will be made of stones as they are long-lasting. Hanuman Garhi mandir is also made of stone which was built in 1164 AD. Gold, silver and copper which people will give would be put in the temple’s ‘neev’ (foundation).” (ANI)

UP govt urges I-T department, ED to probe Vikas Dubey’s close aide Jay Vajpayee

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh): Uttar Pradesh government has requested Income Tax Department and Enforcement Directorate (ED) to probe into the “illegally accumulated” properties of Jai Vajpayee – a close associate of slain gangster Vikas Dubey.

Reportedly, Vajpayee is a known industrialist in Kanpur city. He has allegedly worked for Dubey in property dealing and money-laundering.

Dubey was arrested by the Madhya Pradesh Police in Ujjain on July 9 from premises of Mahakal temple after he was on the run for some days. He was killed in an encounter by the Uttar Pradesh Police on July 10 after he “attempted to flee”.

The gangster was the main accused in the encounter that took place in Bikru village in Chaubeypur area of Kanpur, in which a group of assailants opened fire on a police team, which had gone to arrest him. Eight police personnel were killed in the encounter. (ANI)
