Assam NRC final draft: Here is what to do if your name is not in the list

New Delhi: The much-anticipated second and final draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) was published today with 2.9 crore names out of the total 3.29 crore applicants in Assam, said registrar general of India Sailesh in Guwahati.

The names of 40.07 lakh applicants did not find a place in the historic document, touted to be proof of Assamese identity.

Referred as the list of ‘genuine citizens’, NRC consists of names, addresses, and photographs of all the Indian citizens, who have been residing in Assam before March 25, 1971.

Ways of finding your details in NRC draft:

1. Nearest NSK centre

The application process for the NRC started in May 2015 and a total of 6.5 crore documents were received from 68.27 lakh families across the state of Assam.

Assam NRC final draftApplicants can check for names in the draft by visiting the designated NRC Sewa Kendra (NSK), which will be available on all working days from 30 July to 28 September from 10 am to 4 pm.

2. NRC draft online

The draft of NRC is available online on- nrcassam.nic.in, www.assam.mygov.in, www.assam.gov.in, https://ift.tt/2CoHEUx, www.draftnrcassam.com, www.nrcdrafts.com, www.assamnrcdraft.com.

 

3. NRC via SMS

Apart from finding you name online in the NRC register nrcassam.nic.in, one can also check the NRC details via SMS or by calling the 24X7 helpline. Register your mobile number by sending the SMS- ARN space ARN number to 9765556555 /7899405444/ 7026321133 or 7026861122. Your NRC details will be sent to you via SMS.

4. NRC via Toll-free helpline number

Apart from submitting the form, the applicants can also call 24×7 toll free numbers — 15107 in Assam and 18003453762 from outside Assam.

The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has taken a special initiative to set up a 24-hour control room at its central office here to help people.

5. For filing complaint

After calling the toll-free helpline number, you have to mention your 21-digit Application Receipt Number (ARN) for raising the complaint.
