New Delhi: Diesel prices across the four metro cities declined for the fourth straight day, with prices falling by 8 to 9 paise on Sunday, data on the Indian Oil Corp’s website showed.
Petrol prices, however were unchanged during the day, according to the data.
In the national capital, diesel was priced at Rs 66.14, down from Rs 66.22 per litre on Saturday.
In Kolkata, diesel was sold for Rs 67.92, against the previous level of Rs 68 per litre.
Price of the fuel in Mumbai and Chennai declined by 9 paise to Rs 69.27 and Rs 69.88 on Sunday, from the previous levels of Rs 69.36 and Rs 69.97 per litre respectively.
Fuel prices in the country are based on a 15-day average of global crude prices and the rupee-US dollar exchange rate. Currently, the benchmark Brent crude oil is priced around $67 per barrel.
Cost of petrol in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai was at Rs 72.86, Rs 74.93, Rs 78.48 and Rs 75.67 per litre, all unchanged from Saturday’s levels.
