Ramayan Breaks World Record As It Surpasses Viewership of Big Bang Theory & Game Of Thrones Finale!

Seems like the lockdown is the best thing to have happened to Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan. Featuring Arun Govil, Dipika Chikhlia and Sunil Lahri in lead roles, Ramayan has become the most-watched entertainment show, not just in India, but around the world. Apparently, Ramayan broke world records with 77 million views on April 16 night. More interestingly, it even surpassed the viewership of popular sitcom Big Bang Theory’s finale episode and even Game Of Thrones.

Netizens started comparing the show with the very popular English sitcom The Big Bang Theory starring Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kunal Nayyar, Kaley Cuoco and others. The back-to-back, two-episode finale of the nerdy sitcom’s 12-season run drew 18.5 mn live viewers on May 16, 2019. Game of Thrones had around 17.4 mn live views in its finale episode

A soon as Doordarshan’ official Twitter handle posted about the show breaking world record, netizens started trending #RamayanSetsWorldRecord.

The show’s rerun concluded on April 18 and was replaced with Uttar Ramayan, which features the story of Lord Ram and Sita’s twins Luv and Kush. Uttar Ramayan is also concluding today (May 2). Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan first started airing on Doordarshan from 1987 and went on till 1988. Even at that time, the show had a viewership like no other and earned a hefty amount for each episode.
