Fadnavis takes oath as Maharashtra CM; NCP’s Ajit Pawar becomes Deputy CM

In a major twist, Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as the chief minister of Maharashtra again on Saturday. Ajit Pawar was sworn in as the state’s deputy chief minister. The oath was administered by Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari at the Raj Bhavan.

After taking oath as Maharashtra CM, Devendra Fadnavis said, “People had given us a clear mandate, but Shiv Sena tried to ally with other parties after results, as a result, President’s rule was imposed. Maharashtra needed a stable govt not a ‘khichdi’ govt.”

Devendra Fadnavis expressed his gratitude to NCP’s Ajit Pawar.

Taking to Twitter PM Modi congratulated Devendra, he wrote, “Congratulations to Devendra Fadnavis ji and Ajit Pawar ji on taking oath as the CM and Deputy CM of Maharashtra respectively. I am confident they will work diligently for the bright future of Maharashtra. ”

NCP chief Sharad Pawar had yesterday said in Mumbai that Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray was the choice of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Congress to lead the alliance in Maharashtra. His comments had come after a meeting between leaders of the three parties.
