Chhapaak: Was Early Revelation Of Deepika Padukone’s Look Part Of A Strategy?

Last seen in Padmaavat last year, Deepika Padukone is away from the big screen but has made sure of making a smashing return for her fans. The actress is gearing up for her next release on acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal titled Chhapaak along with Vikrant Massey. Recently, the pictures including Deepika’s first look and others were unveiled.

Deepika Padukone revealed the first look of her character Malti and thereafter Vikrant Massey shared a picture with DP and Meghna Gulzar. Everyone was surprised as actress’ look was touted to be kept under wraps given movie’s release of January next year, it is now learnt that it is a part of a strategy by the makers.

An insider source quoted by stating, “Deepika is not looking like her normal self after the acid attack on her character, and it is important for the audience not to get shocked. Also, they are dealing with a very sensitive issue, and it is important to sensitise them to the kind of trauma that an acid attack victim goes through. So if they warm up to the look of the character, then they will look beyond the look when they watch the film,” reads a report in Deccan Chronicle.

Chhapaak has been mainly shot in Delhi and Mumbai.

Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film will release on January 10, 2020.

On completing the shoot of the movie, Deepika took to social media and termed it is as the most precious film of her life.
