USA to revoke India’s ‘beneficiary developing country’ status from June 5

Washington: The United States is slated to revoke India’s status as a beneficiary developing country for purposes of the Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) from June 5, according to a proclamation issued by US President Donald Trump.

“The designation of India as a beneficiary developing country is terminated, effective June 5, 2019,” Trump said.

Washington has also made the decision to remove India from its list of “developing country WTO Members” who are exempt from application of safeguard measures on CSPV products and large residential washers.

“In Executive Order 11888 of November 24, 1975, the President designated India as a beneficiary developing country for purposes of the Generalized System of Preferences…I have determined that India has not assured the United States that India will provide equitable and reasonable access to its markets. Accordingly, it is appropriate to terminate India’s designation as a beneficiary developing country effective June 5, 2019,” read the President’s proclamation.

Trump's visit to India on R-Day unlikely: Where the things went awry?

This comes at a time when the United States is locked in a trade dispute with China, and amid Trump’s threats to raise tariffs on Mexican imports citing the illegal immigrant crisis.

The United States also announced on Friday that it had withdrawn its tax exemption programme for Pakistani diplomats.

Rajnath pays tribute to jawans at National War Memorial ahead of taking charge as Defence Minister

Ahead of formally taking charge as Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh on Saturday visited the National War Memorial here and paid tribute to jawans who laid down their lives for the country post-independence.

Army Chief General Bipin Rawat, Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa and Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh were also present at the memorial.

Singh was allotted the Defence ministry after taking oath as a Union Minister on Thursday. He will take over from his predecessor Nirmala Sitharaman who has been allotted the Finance ministry. During the first term of Modi government, Rajnath had handled the Home ministry.

The war memorial, located next to India Gate in the heart of the national capital, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 24 this year.

The state-of-art monument spread over an area of approximately 40 acres is dedicated to soldiers who laid down their lives defending the nation during Sino-Indian war in 1962, Indo-Pak wars in 1947, 1965 and 1971, Indian Peace Keeping Force Operations in Sri Lanka and in the Kargil Conflict in 1999.

The memorial also commemorates the soldiers who participated and made supreme sacrifice in UN Peace Keeping Missions, during HADR Operations, Counter Insurgency Operations and Low-Intensity Capital Operation (LICO).

The monument has four concentric circles, namely, the ‘Amar Chakra’ or Circle of Immortality, the ‘Veerta Chakra’ or Circle of Bravery, the ‘Tyag Chakra’ or Circle of Sacrifice, the ‘Rakshak Chakra’ or Circle of Protection.

The complex also includes a central obelisk, an eternal flame, six bronze murals depicting famous battles fought by the Indian Army, Air Force and Navy in a covered gallery (Veerta Chakra).

Likewise, 16 walls have been constructed in the Tyag Chakra for paying homage to the 25,942 battle casualties.

The names of soldiers who have made supreme sacrifice have been inscribed in golden letters on granite tablets arranged in a circular pattern which symbolises the ancient Indian war formation ‘Chakravyuh’.

The outermost circle called Rakshak Chakra comprises rows of more than 600 dense trees with each tree representing many soldiers who guard the territorial integrity of the nation round-the-clock.

The complex also has graphic panels and stone murals. Busts of the 21 awardees of Param Veer Chakra have been installed at Param Yoddha Sthal which includes three living awardees – Sub Maj (Hony Capt) Bana Singh (Retd), Sub Major Yogendra Singh Yadav and Sub Sanjay Kumar.

The construction of the memorial had received in-principle approval of the Union Cabinet at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Modi on October 7, 2015.

A bold move on Instagram sets the tone for Prachi Tehlan!

is turning heads with her bold and beautiful avatar on social media. The actress recently posted her new photo on Instagram, which went viral within a few hours. Dressed in Victoria’s Secret, Tehlan looks insanely hot in the picture.

It was for the first time that Prachi explored the bold side of hers. Though her experiment was appreciated by many – garnering rave attention, a section of her fans felt disappointed and criticised her.

One of her followers wrote, “What was this for”, to which Tehlan replied, “It’s called exploring a side of you”.

Indeed that’s what we call giving it back to the netizen’s trolling in style. Speaking of disappointing a section of her fans, Prachi says, “Fans are getting upset because they never expected it from me. But I believe, they should love me for who I am and not for what I do or what I wear. They should understand that it’s a part of my job.”

“To be comfortable in front of the camera and do whatever the character/role demands is my responsibility. And the picture I posted is a step forward in that direction. I am trying to evolve as an actor and be prepared for whatever comes my way,” Tehlan added.

Happy about all the positive comments on her post, Prachi states, “There is nothing better than to know how supportive your fans are. Though there were many who criticised me for the bold step I took, there were hundreds who appreciated the different side of me and applauded my decision to step out of the comfort zone and explore new horizons.”

Risk And Challenge, Film Selection Criteria Says Taapsee Pannu

says her film selection criteria is simple, it needs to be Risky and Challenging, and she also consider the fact whether she will spent her time and money as an audience, before taking up a new project.

Pannu along with Anurag Kashyap graced the trailer launch of her latest outing Game Over, which is an bilingual thriller film written and directed by Ashwin Saravanan. Talking about her film selection process and particularly picking Game Over, actor Taapsee said, “Had it not been challenging, I wouldn’t have done it because I really want to do things, which are challenging. If I have to sit and have a homely feeling, I would have actually stayed at home and chill. I take up a film only if it is challenging, some sort of challenge should be there”

“And about the risk, nowadays risk is there in everything. There is no guarantee for the film, but I do know, when I decide to take up a film, I read it and visualize it as an audience. And I ask myself, will I spent 2-3 hours on it and spent my 200-300 hard earned bucks on it or not? And if I feel that yes I will do it and I do take myself as an average Indian audience, then audience will also do it and I do the film. I have done majority of films thinking like this. And when I read the script of Game Over, I felt that yes I will watch it and if I like it, I am sure audience will like it too” she added.
The film stars as a person on wheel chair, who is defending her home from a mysterious identity.

The film is produced jointly by Y NOT Studios and Reliance Entertainment and presented by Anurag Kashyap. The music is composed by Ron Ethan Yohann.
The film is scheduled to release on 14 June 2019.

Style your Knit Tops with Elan this Summer

Knit work has been a popular phenomenon among girls and women alike who have discovered how fabulous one can look dressed in one of these. And with fashion evolving, knit tops have been readily accepted by all, irrespective of the season.
If you’re looking for something fashionable to flaunt this summer while still staying true to your love for knit work, here’s what is in store.

Knit tops perfect to beat the summer heat.

When we consider dressing up in the summer, it is often with the thought of wearing something that would be the most comfortable and breathable. Knit tops can be an ideal choice if you choose the right kind. Here’s what you can go for this summer:

Crop tops

If it is a knit top you intend to wear, crop tops are certainly the way to go. Not only are they comfortable to be worn in the summer heat but have also become quite a fashionable phenomenon from western outfits to ethnic trousseau, one can find the crop top becoming a popular attire in almost every ensemble.

T-back knit tops

Another popular style among tops for women is the t-back that is now as widely worn across the globe as denims. T-backs are perfect for the summer months, and what better way to flaunt your love for knit tops than wearing a t-back knit top!

Crochet halter tops

For those who love fashion and keeping up with trends, a simple knit top may not be as enticing to wear. Crochet halter tops, on the other hand, can do the trick by making you look trendy and give you the chance to wear what you love without breaking a sweat.

Ways to style your knit tops just right!

Knit tops look splendid on their own. However, there is a lot that you can do to take its style quotient up a notch! Rather than simply wearing your best knit tops on a random whim, pair it with the right accompaniments for an even better look. Here are some classy ways to style the coolest of knit tops for women:

Pair it with your denim shorts

If it is the summer heat you’re up against, what better item to pair your summer knit tops with than your trusted denim shorts? No matter what the temperature, this is one clothing article that will always have your back – literally. And if denim isn’t really your thing when you know you’re bound to sweat profusely, you can always opt for cotton shorts that are more comfortable and breathable.

Be sure to choose neutral coloured shorts that would match any shade of knit tops you have in your wardrobes

Forego bottoms in favour of longer top

We all know how dreadful wearing trousers in the heat can be. Dresses have become a saviour of sorts during seasons where perspiration is a constant companion. So, if you’re one of those people who prefers a dress over jeans and trousers any day, and love knit work, here’s something interesting for you – longer knit tops! Yes, they exist; and yes, they do look glamorous when worn right. Just put your knit top on and pair it with your chicest accessories. You will not only get the satisfaction of wearing something that you truly adore but also keep the heat at bay.

Opt for crochet knit

Well, knit tops can sure be stifling in the summers if you choose the wrong sorts. One way to avoid this fashion faux pas is by opting for crochet knits or knit work that is thinner than the usual ones. This would allow more air to seep in, especially if your agenda is to keep the heat at bay in the summers.

Go for bright colours

No matter how much you love the colour black, it isn’t the shade to be worn in the summers if you live in a tropical country. On the other hand, brighter shades, or even pastels, work best in these hot months. Make sure you stock your wardrobes with pinks, yellows, light shades of green, whites, and similar shades for a comfortable and fashionable summer. And you can’t deny the fact that a light shade knit top tugs at your heartstrings quicker than any other!
Now that you know all that you need to, go ahead and flaunt your knit tops the best way you can!
